- Demolition of Building 44....and a new attraction?

- The previously released permit details gave us a pretty good idea as to where the Halloween Horror Nights 2012 mazes would be placed.

- A wrench has been thrown into the mix with the recently filed permit for the DEMOLITION of Building 44 (Hercules and Xena). It appears that Universal Creative has greenlit a project that will replace B44. This new development is impacting HHN 2012.

- A&D was under the impression that the planned use of B44 was a go. Unfortunately, all Halloween Horror Nights construction work being done in Building 44 was recently haulted. The impending (and seemingly urgent) demolition of B44 has presented A&D with an unexpected challenge. The challenge is to find a suitable replacement location for the maze/mazes planned for B44.

- Construction walls are currently up around B44 and the courtyard area of the Classic Monsters Cafe.

- Our favorite rampant rumor related to B44 is that it may become "Universal's House of Horrors". This would be a haunted attraction that would be open year-round similar to the attraction found in Hollywood. As is done in Hollywood, the venue could be "re-themed" for HHN. It would be a fantastic addition that would preserve the Classic Monsters Cafe and keep the Classic Monsters alive in the park!! Other substantial rumors hint at The Transformers: The Ride 3D attraction based on the fact that "lift area" and "drains" have been mentioned in recently filed permits. Only time will tell! Universal has yet to name the new "use" of the B44 location.

- What does this mean for Halloween Horror Nights 2012?

- Obviously, a new maze location must be found to replace the maze/mazes planned for the Herc & Xena building so that preexisitng HHN 22 plans can be kept as intact as possible.

- There has been wild speculation about possible replacement venues. Common thinking indicated the ideal use of Soundstage 23 because of its size and use in previous years. The Parade Building was speculated as a "no go" option because it is being used to store floats for the new parade. (We're willing to bet things can be shuffled around so B79 can be used!!!) The more drastic solution was predicted to be a reduction to 6 mazes this year. A&D has certainly been dealing with some major challenges over the last 48 hours!!!

- UPDATE #1:
- It looks like either B79 (YES, THE PARADE WAREHOUSE!!) or SS33 (Specal Events) may be the replacement venue for B44. Activity has been seen around SS33 and audition paperwork listed both B79 and SS33. SS33 is located to the left of the NY facade. You can see it in the diagram below. We'll keep an eye out for any official permits that confirm this. The mystery deepens!!

- It looks like we still have no confirmation about maze locations and the potential number of mazes! A new building permit was scanned today. It lists B44 (Her & Xena) as a location! Yes....you are correct....B44 as we knew it is GONE!!!

- Is it a typo? Is it code and will B79 or SS33 be used? Will B44 actually be ready for SOME sort of use? Is someone at A&D rubbing their hands together right now going, "Mwha Ha Ha Ha Haaaaa....."

- UPDATE #3 (July 30, 2012):
- The recently filed permit has been "corrected" and the location is listed as B79 (Parade Warehouse). SO we now how confirmation of 7 maze locations for HHN 2012. We still do not know if there will be 2 mazes in one of these locations or a "double-run" maze of some sort. We are looking at 7-8 mazes at his point!
