The official dates have been revealed for #HHN28. Just like last year, there is an evening not slated to be a "HHN" night.
Last year, the "hole" in the event calendar seemed perplexing to many. There was all sorts of speculation last year as the HHN-fanverese attempted to figure out why Universal would not have the specific night open to the public. In the end, the solution to the "mystery" was simple! Microsoft had reserved the park for a private event during the Microsoft Ignite Conference. Microsoft Ignite is a showcase of emerging technology. This year's non-HHN date is Thursday, September 27th. It appears that the Microsoft Ignite Conference is once again the reason for the lack of HHN on that date. The 2018 Microsoft Ignite Conference will run from September 24-28th.
The Microsoft Conference takes place at venues throughout the area. Many area hotels will be booked solid during the conference. The influx of conference attendees may impact the Universal Orlando area in slight ways.
There will be more foot traffic in some hotels (Hard Rock & Portofino were sold out for the run of the conference last year).
There will be more auto traffic & main entrance congestion due to conference shuttles.
Expect longer waits for food & bar service in some hotels.
Expect some longer waits for transportation to/from Citywalk.
Expect higher volume at the Citywalk food and bar venues.
The conference will have little impact on daily park traffic because attendees are preoccupied with conference events.
The conference ends on 9/28 and should not impact that weekend's HHN event.
You may want to consider the impact of the event if you want to book the Portofino or Hard Rock for the week of the conference! Conference passes go on-sale on April 3rd. Attendees will begin making hotel reservations then, You'll want to monitor room availability at your preferred hotel.
