Universal Announces KidZone Attractions Closures
On 11-01-22, Universal Orlando Resort announced the upcoming closure of multiple KidZone attractions. The closures will allow for redevelopment of that area of the park.
The statement from Universal Orlando is as follows:
The KidZone attractions that will permanently close on January 16, 2023 include:
Fievel's Playland
Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster
Curious George Goes to Town
DreamWorks Destination
Shrek & Donkey's Meet & Greet
Guests will be able to continue enjoying several attractions that will not be closing. The KidZone area attractions that will remain in operation include:
The E.T. Adventure
Animal Actors on Location!
SpongeBob StorePants/Meet & Greets
KidZone Pizza Company
Universal Orlando stated that the closure of the attractions will make way for new "family entertainment" offerings that will "immerse guests in the adventures of beloved animated characters."
The upcoming KidZone construction project will join an existing park redevelopment project. The Classic Universal Monsters Cafe and the Shrek 4D attraction recently closed to make way for a new restaurant & a new attraction in the front area of the park. This construction project is currently in progress.
Universal Orlando will offer more details about what is coming to both of the redeveloped areas of Universal Studios Florida in the near future.
